The game, originally set to launch alongside the PlayStation 4 on November 15, will now see an "early 2014" release.
"SCE Worldwide Studios and the team at Evolution Studios have made the difficult decision to delay the release of Driveclub and Driveclub PlayStation Plus Edition until early 2014," Yoshida explained. "Driveclub will be a truly innovative, socially connected racing game, but the team requires more time in order to deliver on their vision — and I’m fully confident the game will surpass your expectations."
In an attempt to make amends, Yoshida also announced that Contrast, Compulsion Games highly anticipated puzzle-platformer, will join PS Plus's Instant Game Collection and will be available on PS4's launch alongside Resogun. In addition to that, players with a subscription will also receive an "open weekend" trial of Killzone: Shadow Fall's multiplayer on December 28-29.
This is just one of three recently announced delays; Ubisoft's Watch Dogs and The Crew have both been delayed, as well, with the former expected to release next year in the spring and the latter in either summer or early fall, according to IGN.
As for Driveclub, as soon as we know more about its release, so will you. Until then, check out the trailer for Contrast above.
