Drinking coffee may improve your memory

A lot of people are hooked on their morning coffee for a jolt of energy to get the day going. Coffee is very popular because it not only has a refreshing taste and aroma, it really does also give you a boost of energy from the caffeine. New research shows drinking coffee may also improve your memory, reports Doctors Health Press on Jan. 21, 2014.

Coffee may actually be one of the most frequently consumed drinks daily across the world. Coffee is likely to become even more popular than ever due to new research which shows that aside from improving alertness coffee may also be able to boost memory. Researchers have found people who consumed caffeine had better retention of information which was taught to them the previous day. Coffee is likely to provide the same effects because the average cup of coffee contains about 110-150 mg of caffeine.

There are many other health benefits to coffee, reports WebMD. Coffee drinkers, in comparison to nondrinkers, are less likely to have type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and dementia. Coffee drinkers also have fewer cases of certain cancers, heart rhythm problems, and strokes. However, you should be careful about drinking too much coffee. Drinking more than 2 or 3 cups of coffee daily may increase your blood pressure, particularly in people with borderline or high blood pressure readings.
