Drink like a grown-up tonight

Guinness
Beer is not supposed to be green.

Rivers of green beer and jello shots will be flowing tonight, but that doesn't mean you can't drink from classier waters. Step into one of the city's finer establishments for some St. Patrick's Day cheer. Here are a few options:

Drink. Here you can, "Imbibe classic Irish stouts (Red Breast, John Sullivan) and choice whiskeys in a calm, green beer-free setting." Tonight's special bar menu includes oysters with Guinness mignonette and black and white pudding. Wed., 4 pm-1 am. 348 Congress St., Fort Point.

The Beehive. The Hive has teamed up with the Boston Irish Tourism Association for tonight's shindig. Expect traditional step dancers and musicians, as well as "hearty" Irish food and cocktail specials. Wed., 5 pm-2 am. 541 Tremont St., Boston.

River Gods. All month, this cozy pub is offering up a whiskey tasting tour of Ireland. For tonight, they promise Irish cuisine and a DJ set by River Gods' Team Ireland. 4 pm- 1 am. Kitchen closes at 10 pm. 125 River St., Cambridge.
