Exploring wines goes far beyond varietals and newest releases, boxed wines are quickly becoming fashionable, affordable and a sustainable option these days. It used to be that franzia had cornered the market with their wine in a box often seen at catered events and christmas parties, mostly viewed as a bulk wine or an equivalent two buck chuck. As it turns out, they had the right idea all along. These days wineries are revisiting this effective packaging, not only as more cost effective but also as a sustainable option plus the wines keep longer. In addition, the packaging is more alluring and the sizes more accommodating. Try a few of these unique options.
Octavin Wines
This company lends itself to multiple wine makers and offer this fun packaging that in its 3 Liter size is the equivalent of four bottles. Silverbirch is one of their New Zealand sauvignon blancs. This wine has some zest components typical of new Zealand sauvs on the nose, lime zest and grapefruit citrus notes however the taste was more common of a califonia Sauv blanc and softer surprisingly.
On the palette, Chardonnayish in style, a hint of creaminess and a balanced acidity. Not too overbearing. Overall an interesting white and great option to keep on hand and for guests in your home.

Wine Cube
Wine Cube was developed by Trinchero wines, so definitely expect a bit of consistency here. Sold exclusively by Target (unless someone knows otherwise) These wines were right on point in flavor for varietal, meaning they were a great price for what was in the box. Nothing too complex, but for the budget scale worth pouring a few glasses.Bonus- Comes in 3 Liters (4 bottles) and 1.5 Liters (2bottles) size! Highlight of the bunch, Pinot Grigio.
