Next Wednesday, August 20th, Tech in Motion is bringing a hundred members of the Philadelphia IT community together at the free Social Tech Drinks & Demos event at the Field House on 1150 Filbert St from 6 to 8 p.m. With four companies demonstrating their technical process to attendees, the event promises an engaging experience filled with demos, free bites, complimentary drinks from the headline sponsors Capital One and Verizon FiOS, and most importantly – time spent networking with some of the best tech minds in the area, from entrepreneurs and IT professionals to CTOs and CEOs.
The evening will kick off at 6 p.m. with open networking and the opportunity to visit the tables of four local companies, and then representatives from each company will have the opportunity to do a lightening round pitch in front of the room. Founders and developers from Barwithme.TV, Hootboard, Instamour and Spotlight will be answering business and technical questions from guests as well as showing their products off with one-on-one demonstrations. RSVP here for more information.
Here is a little preview of the companies presenting:
BarWithMe.TV brings out fans with a shared love – be it movies, sports teams or a television series – to the same venue for a public viewing party. While it is up to the bar or restaurant where the phyiscial manifestation of this takes place, generally there are drink specials or themed activities to put the experience on the next level from a Twitter watching party.
On the other hand, HootBoard takes the original idea of a community bulletin board and digitizes it into an online platform with interactive electronic flyers. This can be a stand-alone feature on Hootboard’s website or a plug-in on any company’s website, allowing community members to stay informed in a visually friendly yet simple way.
Instamour is a mobile app that aims to eliminate bad first dates from the world of online dating. The app allows its users to interect through video profiles, live video chat, virtual phone calls and instant messaging without giving out personal information such as phone numbers, real names or email addresses. Let’s put it this way – you can Photoshop that extra ten pounds off on Match.com, but Instagram’s videos are tough to fake.
Ever wonder if you’re “winning” the social media race on Facebook? The mobile app Spotlight by VUID, Inc., puts a number on the winner of that race: $10,000. The newly launched network is in Beta, but users can post up to 5 times a day, are only allowed to have one account and can possibly with the big ten grand if they have the most likes every month.
The sponsors Capital One and Verizon FiOS will also be attending, ready with cool giveaways and free drink tickets for anyone that stops by their tables. The event is free to attend, but attendees are urged to RSVP as there is limited space.
