"I would like to thank Mrs. Tucker and the rest of the administration for this tremendous opportunity.” Driggers said.

"I am extremely excited about the opportunity to work with the young men at South Side High School. My goal is to help them become great students, great people, and great players."

He replaces Jerry Hayes who resigned earlier in the month.

Hayes was in his second tenure at and had a overall coaching record of 154-116.

The Hawks are coming off a 4-7 season but did make the Class 4A playoffs.

“We are very excited to have Jason coming back to our staff,” Southside Principal Anita Tucker said “We know he will continue the South Side High School tradition with school spirit and pride. We are looking forward to the 2013 football season.”

Driggers spend the last three seasons as the Defensive Coordinator at Humboldt.

This will be his second head coaching job as he was the head man at Obion County in 2007.

The Rebels were 0-10 in Driggers lone season at Obion.

Vogel Named CBHS Head Coach

Christian Brothers Defensive Coordinator Scott Vogel has been promoted to replace longtime Purple Wave coach Kevin Locastro.

Locastro stepped down last week after 15 seasons as the leader of the Purple Wave.

Vogel, 31, is actually a 2001 MUS graduate and a former University of Memphis football player who has been the Purple Wave defensive coordinator the last two seasons.

He will continue to serve as the Associate Director of Admissions as well as head football coach.

"It's an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to lead the football program at Christian Brothers High School," Vogel said. "CBHS has a remarkable history centered around faith, excellence, and brotherhood, and I am grateful for the responsibility to continue these traditions with all of our community in the coming years."

Vogel also was an assistant coach MUS in both the 2005 and 2007, he was a graduate assistant at the University of Memphis in 2006 and also coached at Franklin Road Academy for two seasons in 2008 and 2009 before heading to CBHS to coach defensive backs in 2010.

Vogel has a tough act to follow as Locastro led CBHS to the playoffs 13 times and posted a 109-59 record.

Under Locastro the Purple Wave finished Division II-AA state runner up in 1999 in 2005

The Purple Wave are coming off a Division II-AA Quarterfinal appearance and a 9-2 record.
