Drifting the 1948 Pontiac Silver Streak Torpedo

This classic car is drifting at incredible rates for such a large vehicle! In due respect to the fallen Pontiac, this article is dedicated to the lost brand. Let's take a trip back to when Pontiac was the best vehicle on the road! The originally equipped Pontiac Silver Streak was an iconic vehicle of the times. These cars were great for drifting! A long wheel base and well balanced chassis with a higher center of gravity makes for a tricky yet satisfying drift. Once in the groove, this vehicle will shred any classic tire to shreds with a display of smoke, sound, and power!

Powering the 1948 Pontiac Silver Streak is the inline eight cylinder engine. A great low end torque monster, the inline eight setup is ideal for balance. The 1948 featured a "Torpedo" version 248.9 cubic inch with 190 foot pounds of torque at only two thousand RPM! The horsepower for the time was decent as well, churning over 107 horsepower at 3700 RPM! It is awesome to see this classic vehicle drifting with such grace.
