The 2013-2014 Drexel University women's basketball schedule was released on Thursday and it includes some games against big-time local and national opponents.
The Dragons will start off with the Glass City Tournament on November 8th and 9th where they will battle the host Toledo Rockets the first day and then play either Denise Dillon's alma mater, Villanova, or Mississippi Valley State the following day. The Dragons first home game is against Providence on November 15th, who Drexel defeated 60-50 in Rhode Island to start off their 2012-2013 campaign last November.
Drexel battles a couple of local foes with Saint Joseph's on November 20th and Penn on December 21st, both of which will be played "on the road" at Hagan Arena and the Palestra, respectively.
After defeating two teams from the SEC (Auburn and Florida) and a team from the Pac-12 (Utah) in their WNIT title run last Spring, the Drexel Dragons have scheduled games with a couple more teams from power conferences. Drexel will travel to College Park on November 25th to battle the Maryland Terps and then will participate in the St. John's Classic on December 14th and 15th and the Dragons draw the host Red Storm in the first game of the tournament.
Other non-conference games include Colgate, American and Cornell on the road and Hampton and Princeton at home. Drexel will start conference play against new CAA member, Charleston, at home on January 9th.
The Dragons will be playing two of the top teams in the conference, James Madison and Delaware, back-to-back, twice. First Drexel is on the road at Delaware and James Madison on January 19th and 23rd, respectively, then the Dragons host JMU on February 16th and the Blue Hens come into the DAC two days later on February 18th.
Drexel wraps up the regular season at home on March 5th against Towson then the Dragons travel to Upper Marlboro, Maryland for the CAA post-season tournament starting on March 13th.
