Senior guard Frantz Massenat had his shot blocked as time expired in the second overtime and the Delaware Blue Hens went on to defeat the Drexel Dragons (11-16, 7-8 CAA), 73-71, in double overtime on Thursday night. By the end of the game, four big men for Drexel had fouled out - starters Dartaye Ruffin and Daryl McCoy and reserves Kazembe Abif and Goran Pantovic.
Sophomore guard Damion Lee played 49 of the 50 minutes and registered a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Derrick Thomas finished with 19 points and Massenat had 17 points to go along with six assists.
Drexel was down by double-digits at one points and trailed 31-24 at halftime. But the Dragons slowly climbed back into the game and had some chances to win it in regular and overtime, and also missed on some chances to tie or win the game in double overtime.
Delaware earned nearly 40% of their points from the free throw line as the Dragons were called for 32 fouls on the night opposed to Delaware's 18.
Drexel will make the short trip to Towson for a Saturday matinee with the Tigers.
