Drew Peterson shouted out during his sentencing hearing. According to a report by ABC News on Feb. 21, that was just moments before the judge sentenced Drew Peterson.
“I did not kill Kathleen!” Drew Peterson shouted.
Despite his outburst, Judge Edward denied Drew Peterson a re-trial and sentenced him to 38 years in prison. He could have been sentenced to 60 years in prison.
Michael Lisak, Kathleen Savio's nephew, called today “a day for battered women.” It had been rumored that Drew Peterson had abused all his wives.
"This reminds me of Rihanna and Chris Brown. Rihanna needs to get away from Chris Brown while she can still," Mandy Robinson, from Enid, said. "If not, she could end up like one of Drew Peterson's wives! She had better learn her lesson and get out.”
Drew Peterson was found guilty last September of killing his third wife, Kathleen Savio, in 2004. Her death had been ruled an accident, until Drew Peterson's fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, disappeared in 2007. Kathleen Savio's body was exhumed and her death was ruled a homicide.
Stacy Peterson has yet to be found. No charges have been filed against Drew Peterson in connection with Stacy Peterson's disappearance and alleged death.
