Drew Barrymore disagrees with the notion that 'Women can have it all'

Is anybody out there in America still embracing one of the noblest and most crucial of human occupations, motherhood? According to The Hollywood Gossip - of all sources - actress Drew Barrymore is certainly one who does. On Sunday, The Hollywood Gossip reported that Drew Barrymore made some comments in a recent Us Weekly interview, which may likely rub liberal/progressive/feminists the wrong way.

According to The Hollywood Gossip and Us Weekly, Barrymore disagrees with the post-modern, American pop-culture-fed, progressive notion that "Women can have it all."

"Unfortunately, I was raised in this like generation of like, 'Women can have it all,' and I don't think you can. I think some things fall off the table."

Many would probably contend that such a perspective, coming from a successful female Hollywood actress, is quite rare.

You mean, women can't have it all?

One has to wonder, is it a good thing or a bad thing to want to have it all to begin with? What type of person "wants it all"? Why not be content with some, or the most important?

Drew Barrymore continued. She insists that "wanting it all" is bound to cause harm in one area of your life, or another. It's inevitable.

"You know that you're going to miss out on your child's upbringing or realize that your relationship is going to suffer if you work night and days and weekends," she says.

In other words, personal sacrifice for those areas in your life that are of greater importance is crucial. Personal relationships and the raising of children, for Barrymore, rank higher on the list of priorities. It's about embracing motherhood and marriage, rather than career, increased fame, fortune, or accolades.

"There's sometimes things you've invested a lot of time into or cared so much about, and you get to the precipice and you're like, 'I can't do it,' because I won't do everything else well or I'll miss out on this or I need to be over here now..... I think it's a lot about sacrifice," said Barrymore.

Does Barrymore express any regret over having to make these tough choices? After all, her successful career has been put on hold because of her responsibilities as mother and wife. How confident is she that she is making the right choices?

"I know it seems like I do everything but there's so much I had to give up and I'm glad I did. I still think about it all the time but you start to really get instinctual about the right thing to do."

As Barrymore says, some things inevitably fall "off the table", but not everything.

"The good news is, what does stay on the table becomes much more important," she says.

Alberto's "State of the Obvious Address":

The more money you spend, the less you have, unless you invest it wisely and you make it multiply - unless you don't have enough left over to invest. If you earn $3,000 a month and spend $6,000...uhhh....well, that can't be good. Can it? America is now $16 Trillion in debt, and counting. Is this because our government raises too little revenue through taxation, or could it be that it is spending waaaaay more than it takes in? Hmmmm........ Visit the U.S. Debt Clock and watch it go, "Tick, tick, tick, tick...."
