You can dress for success on a budget!
You want to look your best in the workplace. But how is your wardrobe budget holding out? Are you finding it tough to get the clothes you need? Here are some tips to help you dress your best for business but stay on budget!
One option is to create a uniform look. This way you don't have to buy many pieces. You could buy some black slacks and several colored tops all in the same style. Then you don't have to worry about wearing the same pair of pants every day of the week because it's part of your uniform. If, on the other hand, you wear bright colors in bold prints, it will be quite obvious that you are wearing it over and over again. So stick to just a few quality pieces in solid colors and dress them up with some nice bold costume jewelry.
Another option is to shop in thrift stores. Amazingly some thrift shops still charge outrageous prices, way too much for used clothing. But if you shop when they have sales or if you travel to another town where prices are better you can really pack your closet with plenty of clothing for very little money.
Buy one good coat and one nice blazer. You don't need more than that (unless you find a good thrift shop deal). And one bag is all you need. Make your work bag big enough to put your personal purse inside. Then you can just always have your purse handy.
Pick clothing that does not wrinkle. Even a cheap blouse will look great if it's not a wrinkled mess. And go with slacks that have a bit of stretch for comfort and to allow for a few pounds of weight fluctuation. And keep a spot remover pen handy!
