Some go for the music and nighttime fun, some go for the diverse cuisine, but lots of girls go for a unique, boutique-shopping getaway along SOCO (South Congress Street), the Warehouse District, or to so many of the other cool pockets of town.
Dress Shop, in the Warehouse District, is a fairly young boutique garnering attention from the girls.
Don’t let the name fool you, Dress Shop doesn’t just showcase a collection of dresses, but also has a fun selection of jewelry, accessories, and separates. So maybe you’ll leave with that LBD (little black dress), some LBPs (little black pants), or with a vibrant-patterned blouse with a new handbag and gold dangly earrings. The vibe is casual and relaxed, but in an intimate setting, with prices ranging from the likes of a $15 pair of earrings to a $400 dress.
The shop’s contemporary, current style fit the bill for my last girls’ shopping day even though our ages ranged from 23 to 73. We all left with something we loved whether it was a piece of jewelry or something unique to wear to dinner.
Owner, Leslie Gandy, describes on her blog that the shop’s style is “classic over disposable, timeless over trendy.”
Gandy caters to busy shoppers or to those wanting a specialized experience by offering personal styling and private shopping parties, complete with champagne.
