There's a lesson to be learned from the instructions given by God to the children of Israel when preparing them for their moment of freedom from Egyptian bondage. This lesson is one which can be transferred to us today; instructions that we can take heed to in our own unique situations and areas of subjugation.
God made a very simple yet profound statement in Exodus 12:11. As he mapped out his plan to deliver his people from years of slavery, he showed them that they too had a part to play in this moment becoming a reality. He told them what meal they should prepare, and then said “And you shall eat it thus: [as fully prepared for a journey] your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste..."
What's so poignant about those words, you may ask? I would say, the fact that they were told to dress like they're leaving Egypt and to eat in a hurry. That is so encouraging. That means, they were to be ready because their deliverance was coming soon! Their breakthrough was on its way. That's a word for you today, in the midst of your Egyptian bondage, dress like you're ready (to leave)!
Don't get too comfortable. Don't sit down and spread the table to eat your meal, eat in a hurry because you won't be here long. You may just be given the cue in the next moment to get going.
So be mindful that when God is getting ready to move in your life, you've gotta move with him. Don't become sluggish or inattentive. Be vigilant and nimble, ready to adapt to any sudden directives so that you don't miss your moment. Keep your eyes focused on him, not on the current dilemma. You know what you've been fasting and praying for. You have faith and believe and left it in God's hands. Now, dress like you're ready. You're believing God for that promotion? Dress like you're ready, let them see that managerial role in you. Talk like you're ready, walk like you're ready because you're transitioning from your current state. You're ready to walk down that aisle or meet someone at the other end of the altar? Act like you're ready. Cook like you're ready, clean like you're ready, prepare like you're ready, because you're transitioning. You're praying for an open door to your dream, research like you're ready, put plans in place so you're ready. You're seeking freedom from that thing that had held you bound for years? Praise like you're ready, behave like you're ready. You're transitioning and don't even know it. Don't give up, don't get comfortable. Whatever it is you're seeking God for, whatever Egypt your trying to escape, Dress like you're ready! God can move at any moment and if you're ready, you'll step right into that promised place. Let your heart fuel your mind to get your feet in motion. Get ready!
