Dress for Success Miami is one of 125 affiliates of Dress for Success. Affiliates are located across the U.S., throughout Europe, and in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. Each affiliate chapter is an independent, volunteer-driven non-profit organization, but each promotes the Dress for Success mission of empowering disadvantaged women with career training and job maintenance.

The Dress for Success Miami model prepares disadvantaged women for the workplace by providing each client with a business suit when she has a job interview. When a client has obtained employment, Dress for Success Miami equips her with a week's worth of "business-appropriate separates." In furtherance of the organization's mission to guide women towards becoming self-sufficient, active members of the community, each employed client is also invited to join the Professional Women's Group. Each group member is invited to career development seminars and networking events and receives a mentor to assist her in the transition to a new job.

Women become clients of Dress for Success Miami by referral only from one of 120 local agencies, including domestic violence centers, substance abuse programs and homeless shelters. The majority of clients (70 percent) are single mothers with two or three children. Clients are between 18 and 60 years of age, though most are between 18 and 38 years of age.

Dress for Success Miami has also started a program for men, Suited for Success. Men and youth are provided with suits and character building training to assist him in presenting his best, most confident self at job interviews. Since the program began in 1999, more than 10,000 men have received job training, clothing and mentoring. Suited for Success provides support during the job search and guidance needed to secure and maintain employment.

Start Now is a third program of Dress for Success Miami that serves local at-risk youth ages 13 to 18. Start Now aims to provide these children with programming and training so that they can become independent adults. Drawn from area high schools, alternative programs and the juvenile court system, participants are taught interviewing skills, business etiquette, job retention skills, methods of performing a job search and appropriate business attire.

Celebrate Dress for Success Miami and its 20 years of service to the men, women and children of the community while enjoying an evening in the 1920s at the Gangstas, Gals and Glam 20th Anniversary Gala.
