Dreams in Static premiere video for ‘You’re On Your Own’

On March 10, Dreams In Static premiered the video for their new song “You’re On Your Own” through the Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy blog.

Dreams In Static released a video for their song "You're On Your Own" on March 10, 2014.

The video follows a young boy as he makes a video for a girl he used to like. As the boy dances through the empty house, he comes to the realization that he will be okay. “You’re On Your Own” is a fitting soundtrack to the video with its “Forget You” attitude and intensely passionate vocal delivery.

Dreams In Static is the collaboration between LA based hip-hop producer Diwon and New York City producer and songwriter Dugans. For ‘Part of the Machine,’ the band’s soon-to-be-released second album, the duo enlisted the vocals of Akie Bermiss to give their music a more soulful sound. According to the band’s website, Diwon has stated, “Dreams In Static resurrects the guitar and soul-singing that pops in a world where popular music has been left in a state of static and midi sounds. If hip hop is dead to the underground and rock is dead to the mainstream, “Dreams in Static” resurrects the two and blends their elements into one sonic sonnet.”

“You’re On Your Own” is the first single from ‘Part of the Machine,’ which is set to be released some time in 2014. ‘Part of the Machine’ is the follow-up to the band’s 2010 debut, ‘Serene Poetic.’

The video was produced by Diwon’s Bancs Media production company and directed by Jonty Fine.
