Dreaming about sports

If you’re like most sports fans, it started when you were a kid. You dreamed about sports. You loved playing with your friends at the playground, on the soccer team, watching the games on television and even pretending to be your hometown broadcaster. As long as there were sports in your life, you were happy.

One of your earliest dreams was to have a career in sports. If you're like most kids, you saw yourself playing for the Yankees, Celtics or Steelers. You imagined yourself selecting the number one college player for your favorite NFL team or owning a NHL hockey team. In your dreams, it seemed so real. Then you woke up and realized that it’s only a dream.

While it may have been a dream, it’s still your dream and you want to spend your life in sports. There’s only one problem. You don’t have the vaguest idea how to get started.

The first thing you need to do is figure what you want to do in sports. If your goal is to be a college or professional player, your focus needs to on your skills, training and elevating your game. If your desire is to be a coach or work in the sports industry, the paths to a sports career are completely different.

Over the next few months, we’ll cover a wide range of topics related to careers in sports. You won’t want to miss any of the articles so plan to check in each week.
