The Longest Journey and Dreamfall, the point-and-click adventure games are receiving a long awaited sequel, Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey. The game will continue the story of Zoe Castillo.
Red Thread Games has licensed the rights to the game from Funcom, and will be fully producing and funding it themselves. Of course, this is also in addition to help through Kickstarter.
This campaign has already received an overwhelming positive response. Though some people felt like the $850,000 goal was going to be hard to reach, Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey campaign hit $400,000 in funds in the first 24 hours.
These games certainly deserve this sequel.
With its great start, I predict this Kickstarter campaign becoming one of the highest successes for gaming software. Already Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey is nearing 10,000 backers as of February 10th, 2013.
The funding on Kickstarter will come to an end on Mar 10, 2013, and the game is projected to be finished on November, 2014. A $25 pledge will get you the game upon its completion. Initially an early bird tier of $20 was offered for the game, with a limit of 5,000 backers. This special is currently sold out.
For anyone who is into the point-and-click adventure games, with an engrossing storyline, this is a series to check out. Though the graphics may feel dated for the original two games, this is a great time to start these games if you have not yet already. There is plenty of time to get through the first two games before Dreamfall Chapters comes out. The graphics of Dreamfall Chapters definitely appeal to the eyes.
