Dream of a 'White Christmas' while enjoying 'It's A Wonderful Life' this week

You can keep "dreaming of a White Christmas" while enjoying It's A Wonderful Life from now through Christmas Eve at the Hi-Pointe.  If you missed the Christmas movies for homeschoolers that were shown at the Hi-Pointe Theatre earlier this month, don’t despair.  You have received an early Christmas gift of a second chance.

On Wednesday, December 21 through Saturday, December 24; two of the Christmas classics will be shown daily as follows:

  • White Christmas – Daily at 5:00 p.m.
  • It’s A Wonderful Life – Daily at 7:30 p.m.

The cost of admission will be $5.00 per person.

White Christmas begins and ends with the song by the same name.  Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen.  The movie is filled with singing, dancing, and a patriotic and underlying love theme.  While the movie is named after the song, the song White Christmas made its debut in another movie with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire: Holiday Inn.

It's A Wonderful Life is a classic story that makes the holiday complete.  Starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, it is along the same lines as Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carole.  You'll leave with a greater appreciation of life - even if you've seen it a hundred times.

Do a little background lesson planning if you want to use the movies to introduce literature, music, dance, or history.  Study Irving Berlin and Frank Capra.  Or, simply enjoy your Christmas break by settling in with a classic movie at a classic theatre.
