Dream Cafe review

Dream Cafe Greek Omelet and potatoes

The Dream Cafe, with locations in both Addison and Uptown, is a brunch lover's, well, dream. The menu offers a wide variety of items pleasing to all palettes. Their signature item is the "cloud cakes" (ricotta pancakes), but they also serve typical brunch items like omelets, scrambles, and french toast.

However, they put a spin on most of their offerings. For example, many of the omelets come with goat cheese and pesto, and the french toast is crusted in granola and served with creme fraiche. They also serve real maple syrup from Vermont with all of their griddle items. It's those kind of special touches that separate Dream Cafe from the other guys. To top it off, they are vegetarian and even vegan-friendly. They serve tofu scrambles, veggie sausage, and so on.

Their brunch cocktails are also worth noting. The mimosa's are only $2 on Saturdays and $4.59 otherwise. Very reasonable, especially considering their size. Instead of serving them in the traditional champagne flute, Dream Cafe fills up a wine glass, giving you a little more bang for your buck. Almost every patron in the place seemed to order one, myself included. The bloody mary's also have a special twist. Although they taste like your usual bloody mary, they are actually made with a special wine (instead of vodka). They're tasty and refreshing, but spice lovers beware--these are not peppery, so you may have to ask for a side of tabasco.

Everything on the menu looks and sounds so delicious it's hard to choose. On the plus side, you can't really go wrong once you finally make up your mind.

The Addison location is only open for breakfast/brunch and lunch, but the Uptown location stays open for Dinner as well. You can check out their entire menu here: Menu and don't forget to take a look at their facebook page. Both locations have free wi-fi, so if you go alone don't forget to bring along your laptop to catch up on some work or to keep yourself entertained. Dream Cafe is also kid-friendly, so feel free to bring the whole gang along. The Addison location even has an outdoor playground right next to the patio. It's the perfect spot to visit on a nice, cool day.
