Drake's upcoming album Nothing Was the Same has everyone on the edge of their seats. He has released songs like Started from the Bottom and Hold On, We're Going Home over the last year. These two songs are radio friendly and still satisfy Drake fans. The album has been leaked and the feedback has been good so far.
The opening song is surprisingly long. In fact, Drake even says on the song that he is spending too much time on the intro. The message here is clear. Drake's album is different than most people because they usually have a short intro while Drake gives his intro song a lot of importance. He is implying that his whole album is good, even the intro. Tuscan Leather was a great song to start the album.
The next couple of songs are also solid. Furthest Thing, Started From the Bottom and Wu-Tang Forever compliment the album. You could listen to those songs over and over and not get bored.
Own It, From Time and Worst Behavior aren't songs you will like much until you listen to them for a while. They fit the album but you can tell Drake wanted to do something a little different from his usual stuff. Hold On, We're Going Home is one of the better songs on the album. This is one of the songs on the album where Drake mostly sings and it works for him.
The next three songs you could skip and it wouldn't change your opinion of the album. Connect, The Language and 305 to my City are the weaker songs on the album. They seem like songs Drake wanted on the album but that was a mistake. These songs are not going to on many people's iPods.
The album ends with Too Much and Pound Cake/ Paris Morton Music 2. These two songs are gems that will be fan favorites at the end of the day. In Too Much, Drake opens up about family issues and focusing too much on being the best rapper on the game. Pound Cake features Jay Z and that makes the song go the extra mile. Jay Z delivers a great verse that outshines Drake's multiple verses with ease. Jay Z is a legend in the game and this songs further proves that claim.
The Deluxe version has two songs that Drake fans will definitely want to cop. Come Thru isn't the best song on the album but it does fit the theme of the album of nothing being the same anymore. All Me features Big Sean and 2 Chainz. They all brag about their possessions and life style but the hook by Drake makes the song worth while.
Topping Take Care is a tough task but Drake did just that. The two albums sound different but Nothing Was the Same still delivers. This album was one of the most talked about albums of the years and after listening to it, you can tell why. Drake may not stress himself out so much about being the best in the game because this album is easily one of the best of the year. This album is worth listening to and even worth buying because not many rap albums can deliver and this one lives to the hype.
