Drake’s spokesperson dismissed claims made in a lawsuit by an ex-girlfriend, who alleges that the Canuck superstar rapper owes her royalties for the viral hit “Marvin’s Room,” describing the suit as being “without merit.”
According to an article posted yesterday (2/4/12) at Billboard.com, the “Make Me Proud” hitmaker’s rep has denied that Drizzy is guilty of any wrongdoing, and calls the lawsuit filed by Ericka Lee as “frivolous.”
Drake’s representative responded to the suit, filed Thursday (2/2/12) in Los Angeles by Lee, who claims she’s the hip-hop heartthrob’s ex-girlfriend, and owed royalty fees for allowing her voice to be used in the song, described it as "entirely without merit", adding, "Our client has not engaged in any wrongful conduct."
"Ericka Lee consented to the use of her voice in the song "Marvin’s Room" prior to its release. Lee asked only for the credit she received as Syren Lyric Muse, and she did not ask for any compensation. It was only after she retained a lawyer that there was a demand for payment.”
Drake’s “Club Paradise Tour” will hit 17 North American cities beginning Valentine’s Day.
The U.S. leg kicks off in Miami, FL at the Bank United Centre on Feb 14 (2/14/12), and wraps on March 11 in San Diego, before the world tour continues in the U.K.
