Early this morning (July 31st) Canadian recording artist Drake's first single from his forthcoming sophomore album, Take Care was released on his blog October's Very Own. Drake's latest song, "Headlines" is lyrically about him becoming humbled after overdosing on confidence. You can listen to Drake's "Headlines" by clicking here.
Not only can you stream "Headlines" for free, but Drake has also made it available for fans to download for free via his blog. The first verse of "Headliens" starts out with the lyrics, "I might be too strung out on compliments, overdosed on confidence / Started not to give a fuck and stop fearing the consequence / Drinking every night because we drink to my accomplishments / Faded way too long, I'm floatin' in and out of consciousness and they sayin' I'm back, I agree with that."
The lyrics suggest he has taken his time with Take Care, and not rushed the process like he did with Thank Me Later. He also states he is not fearing consequences and doing whatever he wants on his album now. In the second verse he has the line, "If they don't get it, they'll be over you / That new shit that you got is overdue." which is probably one of the most truthful lines in the whole song. Music listeners are quick to move on to the next big thing, so artists are having to continually release new music to keep their attention, and keep them as fans.
Despite "Headlines" being Drake's first official single from Take Care, he first released the song "Marvin's Room" back on June 9th. Back in June there was no official word if "Marvin's Room" would be on sophomore effort, but has since been confirmed in the tracklisting (see tracks below). Even though it was never released as an official single, "Marvin's Room" was released on iTunes July 22nd and has since reached No. 68 on U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
Drake's second full-length studio album, Take Care is set to be released October 24, 2011 via Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown. Not only is that the albums release date, but also the date of his 25th birthday. It is the follow-up to his June 2010 first studio album, Thank Me Later which debuted on Billboard 200 at No. 1. Currently, Thank Me Later is platinum in the U.S. and has sold over 1.4 million copies in the states alone.
