Posting to his official blog on Dec. 30 at OctobersVeryOwn.blogspot.ca, the Grammy winning MC today unveiled the long awaited Hit-Boy-produced track, which was first previewed in a trailer for his latest studio album, "Nothing Was the Same."
Following on in the wake of a freestyle remix of Soulja Boy's "We Made It," which was released over the weekend," Drizzy's latest 3:13 minute opus contains the same spirit of celebration and bravado as the first entry, kicking off with a horn section that heralds the 27-year-old Toronto native's arrival as a force to be reckoned. The multi-Juno winner declares, "This sh*t is not a love song - "This a f**k a stripper on a mink rug song."
The "Started from the Bottom" hitmaker explains the "why" in the chorus, "If I was doing this for you, I'd have nothing left to prove. Naw, dis for me though, I'm just trying to stay alive and take care of my people. And they don't have no awards for that - trophies."
Drizzy's hugely successful third studio release, "Nothing Was the Same," debuted at No. 1 in Canada and the U.S. and has spawned six successful singles.
