Drake’s sophomore studio album Take Care continues to sell big numbers, and has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
According to an article posted today (2/23/12) at www.fmqb.com, the RIAA has announced January’s certifications, and Drizzy’s 2nd studio album has sold 1,469,000 copies in the United States, giving the superstar Canuck rapper his 2nd platinum record.
Take Care is the follow up to the 25-year old actor/hip-hop artist’s smash debut album Thank Me Later.
Released in November 2011, “TC” debuted at No.1 in Canada, and on the U.S. Billboard 200, where it sold 631,000 copies in its 1st week.
The album continues to enjoy strong sales based on the performance of its 4 singles: "Headlines", "Make Me Proud", "The Motto" and "Take Care.”
Last week, the hiphop heartthrob continued his chart topping ways, adding yet another laurel to his growing collection, by tying a chart record set by Jay-Z for most No. 1s, when his single "The Motto," featuring Lil Wayne, topped Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
"The Motto" bumped his own hit "Make Me Proud," featuring Nicki Minaj, from 1st place on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, giving the hip-hop heartthrob the top 2 spots on the chart.
This week, “The Motto” topped both Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and Rap Songs chart, and also cracked the top 20 on the Hot 100.
The Young Money star is currently on the road with the North American leg of his “Club Paradise Tour,” and will be performing tomorrow night Fri 02/24/12 in Tallahassee, FL at the Tallahassee-Leon Co. Civic Center.
