Drain retention pond: A search for an 83-year-old woman in Kettering, Ohio is ongoing after police suspect she might be somewhere in it. Her car was spotted by authorities, but she was nowhere in sight. Margaret C. Spilker went missing around 2 p.m. Saturday while she was headed to Kroger on East Stroop Road, Dayton Daily News reports Dec. 23. Authorities will be draining the pond on Monday.
Spilker's 2011 Chevrolet Cruze was discovered in the retention pond, prompting rescue divers to scour the water for the woman. The dive team searched several times for the elderly woman Sunday and had no luck. That was when law enforcement thought the best thing to do was drain the retention pond.
Police officers were first sent out at 9:30 p.m. Saturday after reports that a vehicle was submerged on Hempstead Station Road surfaced. The submerged vehicle was pulled out of the retention pond after it was spotted in the water.
Spilker's identity is being described as a white female who is 5-foot-7-inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. She has short brown hair.
Anyone who may know anything about Spilker's disappearance is urgedd to call Kettering police at (937) 296-2555.
Hopefully authorities will be able to find Margaret Spilker after they drain the retention pond. The circumstances surrounding this case seem less than encouraging, but there is always a chance a missing person will be found alive.
