Microsoft revealed even more game-themed skins for “Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition” on Friday. Characters from “Dragon Age and “Super Time Force” are the latest to join the menagerie of skins that will be available soon to the open-world sandbox game.
The image posted for the “Dragon Age” skins show Fenris, Marril, Varric, Hawke, Fen Hawke, Isabella, and Flemeth. The official Facebook page for the game says that the inclusion of the characters in the “Minecraft” Skin Pack 6 is to help “ease the wait for ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition.’”
Meanwhile, “Super Time Force” developer Capy Games revealed that Shieldy Blockerson, Jef Leppard, Jean Rambois, Aimy McKillin, Commander Repeatski and Zackasaurus will all be joining “Minecraft.”
Other characters previously confirmed to appear in Skin Pack 6 include Faith from “Mirror’s Edge,” the cast from “State of Decay” and the riders from “Trials Fusion.” Even the fighters from “Killer Instinct” - Jago, Sabrewulf, Glacius, Thunder, Sadira, B. Orchid, Spinal and Fulgore – will be included.
A release date has not yet been announced for the new “Minecraft” skin pack but it will likely be in the next couple of weeks. The usual routine from Microsoft and developer 4J Studios is to tease new skins for at least a week and then release them the week afterward for a dollar or two on the Xbox Store.
The “Minecraft: Xbox One Edition” is still on track for an August 2014 release along with the “PS4 Edition” and “PS Vita Edition.” No exact release date has been set yet but upgrading from the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One or PS3 to the PS4 will only cost $5. The PS Vita Edition will be a free upgrade to existing “Minecraft: PS3 Edition” owners.
If you’re worried about all of the skin packs, texture packs and mash-up packs that you’ve purchased for the current “Minecraft” version, don’t be. The majority of the packs will transfer over to the next-gen consoles with the exception of the Marvel –themed packs due to licensing issues. Existing world saves will transfer over to the PS4 and Xbox One versions of “Minecraft” from the PS3 and Xbox 360 as well.
