Romance options have become both expected and entrenched within Bioware titles, so it’s no surprise to hear that Dragon Age: Inquisition will once again feature the ability to develop relationships with in-game companions. While speaking to Gamerzines on Monday, Cinematic Director Jonathan Perry that the developer strives to push forward the romance scenes of the upcoming title in a mature and fitting matter.
Perry pointed out that Dragon Age: Origins featured love scenes which depicted characters in lingerie which didn’t seem to fit inside the setting of Thedas at all. With Dragon Age: Inquisition they team is looking to produce more meaningful scenes which better capture the feel of the individual characters within them. Rather than simply creating a sex scene, Perry stated, “we’re giving scenes a mature and tasteful treatment.” Placing the game inside the new Frostbite 3 development engine has also been said to give Bioware access to a larger range of animations which will further help in the creation of all of the game’s cinematics, including its romance scenes.
Dragon Age: Inquisition is currently scheduled to release in 2014.
