During this week’s episode of the Syfy Channel’s Heroes of Cosplay, the third confirmed romance option for Dragon Age: Inquisition was revealed to be the recently announced companion character Sera. She will join players on their adventures by making her skills with a bow available during battle. Not only did Bioware’s Aaryn Flynn later confirm this bit of news on June 10, but the general manager of Bioware’s Edmonton and Montreal studios also announced that Sera will only enter into a relationship with a female Inquisitor.
While Bioware fans have been presented with numerous in-game romances from all persuasions in both the Dragon Age and Mass Effect franchises, this marks the first same-sex option specifically for Dragon Age: Inquisition. Additionally, the title’s ranged elf companion will be available to romance exclusively to a female character rather than simply being open to both genders.
Sera is now the third officially confirmed romance option to be available within Dragon Age: Inquisition. One of the previously announced characters with which players may form a similar relationship in the game includes the companion character Cassandra who appeared in Dragon Age II. The other known romance option is Cullen who fans might recognize from both existing installments of the series. Of the three, Cullen is the only character who hasn’t yet been confirmed as a potential companion. Additionally, Bioware has not yet discussed the sexual orientation of either Cullen or Cassandra at this time.
Dragon Age: Inquisition will release across both the new and old generation of platforms when the game launches on Oct. 7 for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. The game will include a total of nine NPC companions from which players can comprise a party. However, not all of these characters will be available as romance options while a few non-party members will be.
