"Dragon Age 3" is currently under development at BioWare right now, and as the Xbox 720 and PS4 approach the gaming industry, an inside source has spoken some not so flattering words about the former CEO of EA.
According to a report from VG24/7 on Wednesday, an anonymous source has spoken out against the former CEO of EA John Riccitiello.
The unnamed individual said Riccitiello didn't know anything about games and lost plenty of cash for the company.
"Riccitiello lost money every single year he was at EA while I was there, (and probably every other year he was there too). He just didn’t know anything about games, or rather, interactive entertainment in general.
"He’s much more obnoxious than impressive.
"They might think they are (or were) creative powerhouses, but of course the creative people actually left EA long ago to seek work where they could be creative (take risks), and invent things.
"EA hasn’t done much of anything of interest in 10-15 years, as proven by the bleeding out of equity over that entire time period. It’s sad really, that company used to kick [butt]. Riccitiello was the single largest reason it stopped. Maybe it will heal, but I don’t think so," the person said.
While these are extremely harsh words and they will most likely please EA's biggest detractors, it's extremely cowardly to sit behind the veil of anonymity and direct such harsh words toward a recently departed executive.
EA is one of the biggest and most powerful publishers in the business and while they may not be everyone's favorite, they have been and are relevant.
With "Dragon Age 3," along with the Xbox 720 and PS4 coming up, there is plenty to look forward to from gaming and EA, regardless of what bitter individuals say behind a computer screen.
