When PRIDE NIGHT returns to California's Great America Friday, May 24, 2013, expect the same big-name entertainment and community-related thrills which have long made it the Bay Area's favorite way to kick off the summer Pride season. This year, however, drag performer Pollo Del Mar will do more than simply host the Memorial Day extravaganza's main stage.
Today POLLO DEL MAR PRESENTS announces it has been signed to head-up PRIDE NIGHT 2013. Cedar Fair Entertainment, Inc., the Santa Clara, CA-based theme park’s parent company, has selected the San Francisco production outfit and its drag namesake to produce and promote its flagship LGBT event.
"I am truly honored to be working with California's Great America," said Pollo Del Mar, who hosted the park’s main stage the last two years. "I am genuinely passionate about PRIDE NIGHT, and I am thrilled by this opportunity to produce an event of this magnitude for the community I love."
Having attended every Pride Night since arriving in the Bay Area in 1999, Del Mar sold the park on her creative and unique ideas for building on the success of recent years while infusing new excitement for the event.
“When I think back about my long history of Pride Night attendance, I have so many amazing memories – people, special moments and unforgettable experiences,” she says. “That’s what I’m looking to create this year for those who attend: A moment and experience unlike anything they will find anywhere else!”
With headliners guaranteed to wow audiences of all ages being named within the coming weeks, now is the time to mark your calendars for what can only be described as one of Northern California's most-anticipated annual LGBT events.
PRIDE NIGHT 2013 is scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend, Friday, May 24, 2013.
