The Oklahoma City Thunder brass found themselves a backup small forward for the 2011-12 season. The team brokered a deal for the Minnesota Timberwolves' Lazar Hayward on Tuesday.
Hayward, the 30th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, played sparingly during his first year in the league and finished last season averaging 3.8 ppg and 1.7 rpg in 42 games.
For Hayward's services, the Thunder sent a 2012 second-round pick, a conditional future second-round draft choice and guard Robert Vaden to the Timberwolves.
Vaden, the 54th overall selection in the 2009 NBA Draft, was waived by Minnesota shortly after the deal was consummated. He had played exclusively for the D-League's Tulsa 66ers last season and for BK SPU Nitra of the Slovakian Basketball League during the lockout.
