This week, schools, libraries and kid-friendly businesses will celebrate reading for Read Across America Day, March 2. Because the day falls on a Saturday, the National Education Association will celebrate in schools on Friday.
Most events are centered around the characters of The Cat in the Hat, The Lorax and Green Eggs and Ham because the event is celebrated on the birthday of Theodor Geisel- more commonly known as Dr. Seuss.
Want to try Who-Roast Beast or Pink Yink Ink Drink? The Pop Shop in Collingswood is going all out again with special menu and Seuss themes each day for its Dining with Dr. Seuss Week. Monday is Horton Hears a Who Day, Tuesday is Cat in the Hat Day, Wednesday is (of course) Wacky Wednesday, Thursday is Lorax Day and Friday is The Foot Day.
The Cat in the Hat will make an appearance each lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinner from 5-7 p.m. He will also join families for the Green Eggs and Ham breakfast on Tuesday. Each day will feature readings of the books represented and other special activities.
In Cinnaminson, Dr. Seuss will take over the library's After School Movie time on Tuesday starting at 4:15 p.m. Kids will get to see their favorite characters come to life as they enjoy pretzels and popcorn in the youth services room.
At the library in Bordentown, a storyteller and performer will act out favorite Seuss stories Saturday at 2 p.m. Children 3 and older not only will enjoy what the see, but can become a part of the stories in this interactive event. Registration is required for this event.

Story time celebrations include:
- The Mt. Laurel Library will host a Read Across America Storytime at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
- Pottery Barn Kids in Marlton will a special Read Across America Day story time complete with crafts and other activities at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
- The Cherry Hill Library's Dr. Seuss Day event is so popular, there is a waiting list for it. The event, designed for kids ages 2-6, will include books, activities, crafts and a snack. To get on the waiting list, register online.
- The Barnes & Noble in Marlton will have Read Across America, Dr. Seuss! as its Saturday storytime theme. The event, which starts at 11 a.m., will include "cat-tivities" and snacks.
