“It’ll just be us, and Dr. Phil. And neither of us is leaving until this government shutdown gets solved,” Kimmel reportedly said Tuesday.
The beef between the two started after Kimmel made cracks about an interview West gave to the BBC, joking "Does Kanye West know you're not supposed to be your own hype man? Is it a money-saving thing?" He then showed a skit in which a young boy dressed as Kanye reenacted portions of the interview.
Apparently Kanye did not find it funny, as he launched a series of since-deleted tweets that included typically sensitive/ grandiose statements like “JIMMY KIMMEL IS OUT OF LINE TO TRY AND SPOOF IN ANY WAY THE FIRST PIECE OF HONEST MEDIA IN YEARS. JIMMY KIMMEL, I DON'T TAKE IT AS A JOKE” as well as genuine body-blows like “SARAH SILVERMAN IS A THOUSAND TIMES FUNNIER THAN YOU AND THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS IT!!!"
For his part, Kimmel seemed a bit bemused by the whole thing, responding on his show the next day “Finally, I’m in a rap feud.”
The fact that the two were recently spotted at wedding together and that Kimmel was behind the recent “Twerk Fail” hoax has lead many to speculate that this whole controversy was a publicity stunt, but Kimmel swears it’s genuine.
We’ll all find out when “Jimmy Kimmel Live” airs at 11:35 p.m. EST tonight.
