Dr. Phil McGraw is speaking out, roundly denying rumors that he has been putting up the money for Jodi Arias’ family to stay in Arizona while she is being tried for murder, according to an April 7, 2013 Radar Online report.
Arias, 32, is charged with the 2008 murder of her former lover, Travis Alexander, 30. He was stabbed 27 times, his throat was slashed from ear-to-ear, and he was shot in the head. Arias claims she killed him in self-defense after he became violent with her.

The talk show host took to Twitter and wrote that neither he nor his production company has given any money to the Arias family, reports the Daily Mail.
“Rumors that we’re paying for Arias family housing etc… are absolutely untrue,” he tweeted.

Dr. Phil continued, “I’ve never met the Arias family, and neither I, nor my production company – has paid or promised them anything. Robin and I are praying for the Alexander family.”
The Mail notes that the rumor began after a blog reported Saturday that Dr. Phil’s production company was paying for the Arias family’s hotel, food, travel, and living expenses over the past few months.

Arias’ father, Bill Arias, has also denied the rumors, telling People magazine that he and his wife, Sandra, were approached by a Dr. Phil producer asking for an interview, but the couple refused.
If Arias is convicted of Alexander's murder, she could be sentenced to death.
