Dr. Oz staged an intervention for a 56-pound anorexic woman on the Jan. 31 episode of the Dr. Oz Show.

Stacy is a 43-year-old woman who has suffered from anorexia for years. She looks and feels decades older due to prolonged starvation and malnutrition.

"This is the most extreme case of anorexia ever shown on television," said Dr. Oz.

After ruining her health, marriage and life, Stacy feels hopeless and alone. Over the years, Stacy said she shut her family and friends out of her life as her anorexia spiraled out of control.

She admits she's deeply unhappy about her eating disorder but feels powerless to help herself. "It's a living hell," she said.

Dr. Oz measured Stacy's heart rate and was astounded that it was an anemic 48 beats per minute. "Do you hear your heart?" Dr. Oz asked. "Your heart is literally being starved to death."

Dr. Oz also noted that Stacy had a blood pressure of 90/50, which was higher than he had expected due to her elevated stress levels. Dr. Oz asked Stacy point-blank if she wants to live. She said she did, so Dr. Oz had therapist Jane Johnson of Magnolia Creek Treatment Center for Eating Disorders join them.

After speaking with Johnson, Stacy said she was willing to get treated for her anorexia. An encouraged Dr. Oz told Stacy he wants to check up on her in the near future after her health improves.

Dr. Oz Reveals Best Anti-Wrinkle Creams

On a separate segment of his show, Dr. Oz said the best wrinkle-fighting treatments are those that contain glycolic, lactic or salicylic acids.

Dr. Oz's guest was dermatologist Dr. Doris Day, author of Forget the Facelift. Dr. Day said acids are her favorite method for preventing and smoothing out wrinkles, acne, and getting rid of age spots.

  • Glycolic acid. Dr. Oz said the best anti-wrinkle treatment is glycolic acid, which exfoliates damaged and dead skin while promoting collagen growth. Use a concentration of 10% glycolic acid for best results.
  • Salicylic acid. Dr. Day said salicylic acid is the best treatment for getting rid of acne. A 2% concentration is effective for zapping zits without drying out your skin.
  • Lactic acid. Dr. Oz said lactic acid works best on dry skin because it helps your skin retain moisture. Look for a 12% concentration.
