Dr. Oz suggests flu supply kit to reduce influenza symptoms (Video)

People all across the United States are stuck in bed with the influenza virus. Dr. Oz gave tips for building a flu kit on the Jan. 25 episode of “The Dr. Oz Show.”

The doctor recommends alternating ibuprofen with acetaminophen to ease the aches and pains brought on by the flu. The two medications work in different ways and alternating them allows the body to reap the benefits both have to offer without overloading the liver and kidneys. Dr. Oz suggests taking two 325 MG tablets of acetaminophen and one or two 200 MG of ibuprofen. They should be alternated every four to six hours.

Hand sanitizer is crucial for killing germs when you are away from soap and water. Make sure it is at least 60% alcohol. The label may say isopropyl or ethanol instead of alcohol. Get it in between the fingers and on both the tops and bottoms of hands. Make sure to supervise children while using hand sanitizer.

Dr. Oz said elderberry tea acts as a natural Tamiful. It blocks the influenza virus from entering cells. It also shortens the flu symptoms in those who have contracted the virus. Dr. Oz suggests drinking four to six cups a day.

The final piece of Dr. Oz’s flu kit is a surgical mask. These can be bought at drug stores or big box stores for around a dollar each. If you have the flu, this will help keep you from spreading it.
