Dr. Oz said you can banish bloat, flush fat toxins, and speed up your metabolism on his 48-hour holiday detox diet.
On the Dec. 9 episode of his show, Dr. Oz said his holiday detox diet promotes weight loss by doing the following:
- Rebalances your blood sugar.
- Removes fat toxins.
- Gets rid of belly bloat.
Dr. Oz suggested following the detox plan for two days either before you anticipate eating a lot or after you've already indulged.
The menu includes the following:
Breakfast: Fat-flushing water, which is made by blending honeydew melons and coconut water. Dr. Oz said this will eliminate water retention and bloating, and suggested drinking five cups of this throughout the day.
Lunch: A liquid lunch of lentil soup made with chicken broth and celery. These low-glycemic foods will rebalance your blood sugar.
Snack: Chocolate tea. Dr. Oz said this low-caffeine, antioxidant-rich drink can boost metabolism.
Dinner: A protein-packed cabbage salad made of chicken breast, red cabbage, olive oil and pumpkin seeds. Dr. Oz said this salad will remove fat toxins and promote weight loss. Red cabbage is rich in fiber (so it makes you feel full) and is a natural diuretic.
Fennel Aids Weight Loss and Reduces Cholesterol
In a separate segment, Dr. Oz discussed the health benefits of the herb fennel, which accelerates weight loss, relieves constipation, and lowers cholesterol.
Fennel, which tastes like licorice and looks like celery, is high in fiber and calcium and low in calories. Dr. Oz said it speeds up metabolism and helps break down fat. You can eat it raw in salads, enjoy it in soups, or drink fennel tea.
