Dr. Mehmet Oz revealed his anti-aging plan to aid weight loss, boost energy and reverse aging on the July 4 episode of the Dr. Oz Show ("Dr. Oz's Ultimate Anti-Aging Guide").

Dr. Oz said if you're constantly feeling run-down, you're not alone. Fortunately, there are simple steps you can take to recharge your batteries in just seven days.

Day 1: Prebiotic shake. Dr. Tasneem Bhatia, a holistic health expert, said prebiotics (not probiotics, which are also super-healthy) are specialized plant fibers that promote the growth of good bacteria in your gut.

Dr. Bhatia suggested a prebiotic shake for breakfast to increase good gut bacteria, which in turn aids digestion, reduces inflammation, and facilitates weight loss:

  • 10 ounces of almond milk
  • 1 scoop plant-based protein powder
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar

Day 2: Citrus fruits boost brain health. Nutritionist Heidi Skolnik recommended consuming a citrus fruit with every meal to enhance brain function and energy. She said a convenient way to get citrus during the day is with a citrus zinger, which you can use to extract juice from fruits and infuse them into your water bottle.

Day 3: Flax seeds are anti-aging superstars. Dr. Oz said flax seeds are antioxidant-rich super-foods that curb hunger, lower high blood pressure, clear clogged coronaries, and prevent heart disease.

Day 4: Dandelion detoxes your liver. Science writer Tim Ferriss said dandelion rids your body of free radicals, detoxes your liver, and is a natural diuretic. Dandelion is also rich in vitamins A, B, C, and D, and contains zinc, iron, and potassium.

Day 5: Iron-rich foods fight fatigue. Dr. Bhatia said iron deficiency is a major cause of fatigue. She recommended eating iron-rich foods, preferably from high-quality sources such as grass-fed beef and humanly raised poultry and fish. Bhatia revealed how to promote natural weight loss without dieting in her book The 21-Day Belly Fix.

Day 6: Coconut oil smooths wrinkles. Dermatologist Dr. Jeanine Downie said coconut oil fights wrinkles from the inside and out. She suggested using coconut oil when cooking, and rubbing coconut oil on your face and hair for its anti-aging and conditioning benefits.

Day 7: Epsom salt bath rejuvenation. Dr. Oz suggested soaking in an Epsom salt bath because it eases tension, promotes restful sleep, draws out toxins, and aids weight loss. On a previous episode, one woman demonstrated live how an Epsom salt bath helped her lose an inch off her waist and another inch off her thighs.
