Too much of a good thing can be harmful to your health. According to Dr. Oz, taking too many antioxidant supplements is a dangerous practice because it actually increases your chances of getting cancer. Dr. Oz shared this information after a new study came out that revealed the problems with antioxidant supplements.
“It is best to get antioxidants from food sources. Those do not raise your risk of developing cancer. But, we need to be careful when it comes to supplements, “ advised Dr. Oz. A healthy diet which consists of a variety of plant-based foods will help you get the antioxidants you need.
Dr. Oz recommends eating a colorful diet. Green,blue, red, yellow, orange, and purple fruits and vegetables are rich in essential vitamins and minerals. So, try to eat more blueberries, cherries, collard greens, and other brightly colored fruits and vegetables.
Antioxidants are good for you when they come from natural food sources. Those will help you ward off cancer and other illnesses. If your body is lacking in proper nutrients consult your healthcare provider or a registered dietitian. Stocking up on antioxidant supplements and other vitamins is not the solution for a poor diet.
