Here's a different way to celebrate the New Year: Learn how to look and feel seven years younger in just seven weeks. And no, it doesn't involve a time travel machine. The secret: Dr. Mehmet Oz, who invited the editors of Good Housekeeping magazine onto his Dec. 31 show to reveal their research into how to turn back the clock seven years for the ultimate anti-aging plan.
After testing multiple products and concepts, the editors have concocted a book about their unique approach: "7 Years Younger: The Revolutionary 7-Week Anti-Aging Plan." Dr. Oz asked them to share their best tips for looking and feeling younger in less than two months:
- Younger skin: Each night, wash your face with an alpha-hydroxy (AHA) based cleanser. Seek a product that ends with "ic," such as Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion 10 percent Glycolic AHA. And once a week, use an AHA skin peel, such as Lactic Acid 85% Skin Chemical Peel- Alpha Hydroxy (AHA). And every morning and night, use a moisturizer with ceramides, such as CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion.
- Sleep: Follow a consistent sleep schedule for the optimal ability to sleep soundly, and reduce wrinkles, acid reflux and the likelihood of spinal misalignment by sleeping on your back. To make the switch, try using a wedge pillow or down pillow under your knees and neck, moving it until you're comfortable.
- Lift and tuck your skin: Tuck and lift sagging skin (no surgery required!) with pycnogenol supplements. Made from pine bark, these supplements contain hyaluronic acid, which keeps your skin free of wrinkles by keeping the moisture in your skin. Studies show that pycnogenol can boost your level of the enzyme that produces hyaluronic acid by 44 percent. Result: In about three months, you can experience smoother and more supple skin, as well as fewer fine lines. Take with liquid and a meal three times daily, choosing 25 mg supplements.
