Getting out of bed on cold days is often a challenge. Dr. Oz gave tips for easier winter wake ups on the Jan. 25 episode of “The Dr. Oz Show.”
The doctor polled fans for their best tips for getting out of bed in the morning. One fan responded on Facebook that her dogs are what get her out of bed in the morning. They bark, jump on her and squeak their toys until she gets up to play with them.
Another Facebook user wrote that she keeps socks under her pillow. She puts them on as soon as she wakes up in the morning. Having warm feet helps her face the day.
Dr. Oz had three other fans in the audience to demonstrate their tips. Keeping citrus essential oils next to the bed gets one viewer up and going each day. She takes a sniff as soon as she wakes up. The doctor suggested taking a bit out of a lemon.
Another viewer does a full body stretch and then tenses her muscles three times. This same method can be used to help you fall asleep at night.
Finally, a fan demonstrated the Shake Awake app on her phone. You set it with the time you want to wake up. Once the alarm sounds, you have to shake the phone hard to get it to go off. It then says, “Great shaking. Have a nice day.” Dr. Oz said the app is free.
