Dr. Oz explores fibromyalgia symptoms and solutions; fiber for weight loss

One of the most difficult conditions to diagnose is also one of the most debilitating, says Dr. Mehmet Oz: It's fibromyalgia. On his Feb. 17 talk show, he explored the symptoms and cures. In addition, he revealed the best sources of fiber for weight loss and health.

Fiber can help you lose weight because it fills you up with fewer calories. It also can relieve constipation and ease digestive problems. Good sources include:

If you feel constantly tired, no matter how much sleep you get, and also suffer from widespread pain, you may have fibromyalgia, says Dr. Oz. Other symptoms include brain fog, depression and frequent headaches. Although no definitive tests exist, checking certain tender points on the body can determine if you might have fibromyalgia.

Press with your thumb until the nail goes white on tender points such as the neck (back and front), shoulders (top and between the shoulder blades), hips (tops and sides), below your collar bone, elbows and knees. You should feel actual pain, not just pressure.
