Discovering your sleep type can help prevent disease while guiding you on the path to natural weight loss. The latest sleep studies have revealed four sleep types, with easy "prescriptions" for helping each type boost their health while shedding pounds:
- Type 1 sleepers get zero to four hours a night, putting them at risk for diseases and obesity. Eat more foods high in antioxidants, such as tomato juice, red peppers and pink grapefruit. Tip: If you choose juice, make sure you get pure juice rather than one with sugar and artificial flavoring. Recommended: Lakewood Organic PURE Pink Grapefruit Juice (click here to buy).
- Type 2 gets five to six hours a night. Your prescription for a good night's sleep: Vitamin C and selenium. Try using a citrus infuser to enhance your water with lemon, orange or lime without the pulp. Recommended: ZingAnything Citrus Zinger (click here to get now). Get selenium with Brazil nuts.
- Type 3 sleeps too much, getting nine or more hours a night. This may result from hypothyroidism. If you oversleep, get more theobromine intake by eating one ounce of dark chocolate per day. Choose one with a high percentage of cacao, such as Ghirardelli Chocolate Intense Dark Bar, Midnight Reverie 86% Cacao Bar (click here to order).
- Type 4 is the ideal, getting seven to eight hours a night.
