It's that time of year when everyone wants to lose weight to look great in revealing warm weather attire. According to Dr. Mehmet Oz, adding just a few superfoods to your diet can boost your weight loss, help your heart, enhance your skin and flatten your tummy. He revealed them all on his Friday talk show.

Dr. Oz recommends using chia seeds in your diet regularly. They contains 500% more calcium than milk and the same amount of omega-3s as wild salmon. It also suppresses your appetite, making chia seeds advantageous for weight loss.

You may have heard of safflower oil for making salad dressing, but did you know that it can also boost your weight loss and flatten your belly? Dr. Oz suggests taking safflower supplements that contain six grams of linoleic acid.

In addition, Dr. Oz recommends using safflower oil as an energizer in the morning. For heart health, try safflower tea.

How does safflower oil compare with coconut oil, which Dr. Oz also recommends? Coconut oil also is good for your heart. In terms of weight loss, he says that it helps because it boosts thyroid function.

Dr. Oz's recommendation of these oils highlight the way in which he increasingly has embraced adding fats to your diet. In contrast to his previous emphasis on low-fat diets that are high in whole grains, he now frequently showcases experts who recommend high fat low carb diets.

One recent such guest expert, for example, is Dr. David Perlmutter, author of "Grain Brain: The Surprising Truth about Wheat, Carbs, and Sugar--Your Brain's Silent Killers." Dr. Oz supported the book's view that a high fat low carb diet prevents conditions such as dementia while boosting weight loss more effectively than a low fat, high carb diet.

One of the best ways to strengthen your immunity system is smelly, but effective, says Dr. Oz. Garlic helps to prevent conditions such as colds.

Because garlic is especially effective raw, Dr. Oz suggests combining it with another of his favorite foods: Honey. Try eating garlic with honey or mash it with avocado and spread on toast.

Walnuts can benefit your body in multiple ways, says Dr. Oz. They enhance your skin. In a recent study, eating nuts boosted weight loss because they help suppress cravings.

Flaxseed is another superfood to enjoy regularly. Dr. Oz recommends flaxseed because they contain omega-3. High in fiber, they help you stay full and also benefit your anti-inflammatory system.

Dr. Oz also lists black soybeans as a favorite weight loss superfood. High in protein and antioxidants, they are lower in carbohydrates than other beans and take longer to digest.

What about a superfood that you drink rather than chew? Dr. Oz's a believer in the powers of red wine. It can help you live longer and can help prevent cancer.
