Dr. Heeg holds a doctorate in music from the University of Colorado – Boulder. He has traveled to many parts of the world as a musician, Chinese herbalist, and student of religions. He is displaying his musical skills at the Christian Spiritualist Temple on Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The theme of the concert is Sacred Music of Spring.

Using the church’s well-seasoned grand piano that is over 100 years old, Dr. Heeg has designed a concert for Spring Healing that utilizes the music of such composers as Frederic Chopin, Claude Debussy, Joaquin Rodrigo and Enrique Granados, as well as some of his own compositions. Dr. Heeg learned some of his piano arts and piano tuning skills from his father. A sample of Dr. Heeg's work is in the attached video.

The acoustics in the church are aided by walls that are about three feet thick. The high ceilings and classic walnut altar and organ pipes provide a miniature cathedral backdrop. The Belgian stained glass windows will shade the sunset as Dr. Heeg plays his music to usher in Spring.

Before returning to Columbus, Dr. Heeg spent eight years as the professor of music of the Eastern Mediterranean University on the island of Cyprus. He has played and studied in Germany, and has continued his German heritage as a performing member of the Columbus Maennerchor.

Dr. Heeg will offer a compact disk of his live concert done as a benefit for Columbus Maennerchor on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013 at the Graves Recital Hall. The CD contains pieces from Bach, Mozart, Schubert, and Chopin. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the CD will be donated to the church.

This is an opportunity to hear an outstanding pianist in a beautiful setting on the first day of Spring. The Christian Spiritualist Temple is located at 77 South Sixth Street, Columbus, OH 43215. It is at the corner of Sixth and State Streets, with parking in the two lots west of the church. The suggested donation is $10 to $20, with the community welcome to attend.
