Dr. Ian Smith joins 'The Doctors' with 'Shred' diet tips and 8-second fitness

Renowned weight loss expert Dr. Ian Smith joined "The Doctors" talk show on Jan. 21 to discuss his best-selling book "Shred: The Revolutionary Diet: 6 Weeks 4 Inches 2 Sizes." In addition, the physicians on the show revealed how to burn calories in just eight seconds. Get the skinny here.

In the "Shred" diet, Dr. Smith provides different phases to help you shed pounds quickly and easily. You'll eat every three to four hours, and learn to choose healthy snacks in order to take off the pounds and keep them off. "What it teaches your body is you can reduce your caloric intake, stabilize your hormones, eliminate the cravings," explains Dr. Smith. And the doctors agree with him. Dr. Travis notes that if you skip meals, studies show that you are more prone to being overweight. When you space your meals every three to four hours, "you're making sure you’re never going to go through these binge-purge cycles," Dr. Travis said in support of "Shred: The Revolutionary Diet: 6 Weeks 4 Inches 2 Sizes."
