Dr. Drew defends 'Celebrity Rehab' after the death of Mindy McCready

Dr. Drew Pinsky has found himself defending his show “Celebrity Rehab,” it is now called “Rehab,” on “The View.” According to ABC News on Feb. 19, Dr. Drew felt he needed to defend the show after the death of Mind McCready.

McCready was the fifth person who has appeared on his show in the past two years to die. A lot of the public and even recovery advocates believe that the show does not belong on television. McCready appeared on the third season of “Celebrity Rehab.”

Dr. Drew did reach out to Mindy after the loss of her boyfriend, David Wilson. Dr. Drew says Mindy was “shattered” and she knew she was really struggling. He says Mindy’s main problem with seeking help was the judgment from the public, which is why she went but left too early. Dr. Drew believes that when she lost her children it was “the last straw.”

The truth is no one can be blamed for the death of Mindy McCready. Dr. Drew Pinsky should not have to defend “Celebrity Rehab.” The people that appeared on the show were there for a reason. Dr. Drew cannot save them all. They have to want to save themselves. What do you think? Sound off in comments below.
