In honour of what would be the 200th birthday of 19th-century Hungarian composer, pianist, conductor, and teacher Franz Liszt, pianist Dr. Beverly Serra-Brooks will be giving a concert of some of the composer’s piano works in a concert at the Old Church on Wednesday, October 19.
This concert, which will take place at noon and usually lasts about an hour, is part of the Old Church’s ongoing, fantastic series known as the Sack Lunch Concerts. The concerts are free and are a great showcase for local musicians in an historic and acoustically friendly setting. The Sack Lunch series always happens on Wednesdays and donations are welcomed.
In 2005, the International Who’s Who of Music and Musician’s Board in Cambridge, England dubbed Dr. Beverly Serra-Brooks as one of the “World’s Best 100 Classical Musicians”. Ms. Serra-Brooks also has several prestigious prizes and awards to her name, such as the Harpo Marx, James Irvine and Pillsbury Foundations Music Awards, the Music Arts Club, the Simone Belsky Piano Competition and Fellowships from the International Institute for Chamber Music in Germany and the Music Academy of the West.
The programme for her recital at the Old Church will be available at the concert. For more information, please visit www.oldchurch.org.
