Appearing as a guest last night on the Sean Hannity show on Fox News, Dr. Ben Carson said he is impressed with Senator Rand Paul (R-KY). The junior senator from Kentucky won the straw poll for favorite presidential candidates for 2016 at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) this past week and gained the admiration of many conservative activists with his filibuster of the Brennan Director of Central Intelligence nomination in the senate recently.
When asked by Hannity who he is impressed with, Dr. Carson responded, “I certainly like the individual you just had on, Rand Paul. And it's not just because he's a doctor, like I am. He thinks quite logically, and, you know, he has courage. He's willing to take positions that some other people won't. Ad part of the problem that we're having right now is that a lot of people who lack courage, who always want everybody to adore them, and they just are not willing to take stands based on real convictions, and when I see that, I'm very impressed with it.”
Speaking about the expectation that African-Americans support a liberal political agenda, “There were some individuals who are relatively narrow minded who like to put people into categories and boxes and can't understand why (one) would move off the reservation,” said Dr. Carson.
Dr. Carson did comment a few times during his speech this past week at CPAC about the possibility of running for president or what he might do if he was president. He is leaving options open and has neither announced nor removed himself form consideration.
